Names of God
In Biblical times
names were very important. They revealed a person’s character or expressed the
situation or circumstances when the person was born or the expectations of the
parents.
“LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all
the earth!” Psalm 8.1a
“The name of the
LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Prov.
18.10
“Moses said to God,
“Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has
sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell
them? God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”. This is what you are to
say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Exodus
3.13-1
